Core Logs and Compression Test
Core logging and compressive strength testing are used to assess the structural performance and condition of concrete extracted from existing structures. Once cores have been drilled from the structure, they are carefully examined and documented before undergoing laboratory testing.

The Process

Each extracted core is logged to record visible features such as cracking, voids, reinforcement presence, or variations in aggregate distribution. The cores are then prepared and tested in compression using laboratory equipment to determine their strength. The results provide an indication of the in-situ compressive strength of the concrete.

The Reason

Understanding the actual strength and condition of concrete within an existing structure is essential for structural assessment and design verification. Core testing provides one of the most reliable methods for determining in-place concrete strength.

The Application

Core logging and compression testing are frequently used during structural investigations, refurbishment works, and engineering assessments where confirmation of concrete strength is required.
